Release Date: May 6th, 2022

The Super Mario videos are always very popular. I originally wanted to release this video in August 2021, the 30th anniversary of the North American release date. But when I realized the scope of the project, I decided to put it on the backburner. I researched on / off throughout 2021. In January of 2022, I decided to focus on this project full-time. It’s the longest video I have ever made and, I think, my most well-researched and best-edited video.

What made this project a little more difficult was the fact that Super Mario World was a launch title for the Super Famicom/Super Nintendo. It almost felt like I was making two videos. There was also a lot of new information about Super Mario World. A couple of years ago, some Nintendo leaks revealed early sprites of the game. I had to carefully construct a timeline of what the game looked like throughout development. It really put my skills to the test. But I couldn’t have done it without the help of others. Several people assisted with translations, scanning, and knowledge of Super Nintendo game development.
