    Nice cast fellas!
I agree that the Final Fatasy franchise has gone downhill and lost it’s charm since the 12th installment, IMO. X-2 didn’t help either. I liked FF up until the tenth game with my favorite being FF 6. Yes, I even like FF8.

Thank you, we are really excited about this weekly podcast! FF8 is actually my favorite in the series.

8′s not my favorite but it gets way too much hate. I like it way better than 9, which was an attempt to recapture the glory of the past. 8 gave a fully fledged main character and I love the constant introspection rather than the mute protagonists of yore. Definitely need to play again to judge it. WHERE IS MY PSN FF6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Syphon Filter had the sniper taser. God i miss that ridiculousness. It was better than most of the guns on the earlier levels. Hope they make a good Vita game. And I want my sniper taser dammit.

Saying RPG’s aren’t selling is a big mistake. JRPG’s have seen a major decline but games like Mass Effect and The Elder Scrolls series are alive and well, I guess they’re maybe ActionRPG’s which would make your point valid I suppose.
There are a couple of things I like about FF13. I personally hate all the irrelevant townsfolk and spending 20 minutes looking for that one guy that will advance the story. As a kid I had the misguided delusion I had to talk to everyone and did, wasted hours definitely. For every character that added to the mythos of the game there were hundreds that had asinine things to say. World maps are also pointless to me, archaic way of presenting scope. I feel like FFX did it right, but definitely didn’t have enough optional areas to explore. Presenting different views for the map and the locals to me is something that should be forgotten. Everything from Elder Scrolls to Dark Souls does fine without the world map screen, still evoking a sense of scale, and I don’t miss it at all. I think it is the lack of optional content that has screwed FF. Look at FF6 , you can not only miss intricate parts of characters’ back stories you can even miss characters as a whole. FF13 had a good battle system, better than 12 in  my opinion, and the pace of the battles virtually leaves out any hope of controlling multiple characters and winning, unless you’re the type to turn off ATB.
PSN surely doesn’t have the indiecade scene XBOX has but part of me thinks its XBOX strong handed actions that have cornered the market,. Time will tell how much money XBOX has been willing to shill out to corner the market and either offer discounts or insentives to developers, ala COD and GTA. Enticements are a valid strategy, don’t get me wrong but to say PSN is a failure because Microsoft is able to spend more since it charges for its services is a little fishy to me. But yeah there is a hell of a lot more on XBOX to download than PSN that’s for sure.
Glad I found this podcast, it being the second one I think I’m going to follow, RETROBEATS MO FO, Keep it up guys Definitely quality material in my opinion.

We could just go ahead and face the fact that Final Fantasy is not relevant anymore? Even Pokemon games may be more convincing at making you buy a console, but FF games right now are just “there”.
